Coraline

Jackie LOVES the movie Coraline. She is always looking for an excuse to have some one watch it with her, as it has a couple of scary parts in it. Papa was more than willing to oblige the other night! After the movie she was talking about having a Coraline doll and it got me to thinking that it had been a while since I had made a doll. After gathering a few supplies, we set out on our mission. Jackie is such a wonderful helper! She likes to thread my machine and trust me I can use all the help I can get. She helped me with every step along the way. Stuffing the head, adding rice to the hiney, turning the arms and legs inside out and stuffing them, and even hand sewing them closed! A few hours later we had finished our little girl...Coraline.

  1. Hi Diane! Nice to meet you and thank you for the nice comment on my blog. I just love Debbie! And yet I don't actually know her in "real life", just blog land! Although I feel like I know her now.

You also have a beautiful family. Your grandkids are so precious. And those pics of her helping you make the doll with your sewing machine! So fun. I just told my hubby yesteday that when our girls are both in school I want to take sewing lessons.

Stop by my blog any time and say hello!

  2. Hi Diane,
I loved having you visit my blog and I loved meeting you at Kristi's DWTS party. Your grand-daughter is lovely and what a fun project the two of you had together. You and your sister are such talented seamstresses.

I have been scanning the internet waiting to hear who the new cast will be for DWTS and Kristi and I are planning our next party. I hope you will come, we look forward to seeing you and Debbie again. Stop by the blog anytime, you are always welcome.

  3. I'm soo impressed....The doll is not only darling, she looks quite a bit like Coraline...Jackie looks soo intense in these pics. Soo her. I was always going to teach Mel to sew, but there was never time with all her sports. I think it is wonderous Jackie is learning.

  4. Hi Diane!!! Thanks for visiting! Come back!! Come often!!! And now I shall visit you as well! I know I have only met both you and Debbie the one time, but I feel like Debbie is an old friend. She is such a neat lady! And now, I can get to know you as well. I love to sew, but I have not ventured into doll making. I have a friend who does dolls. Her blog is called Cucaroo. Look for it on my blogroll. We are taking a field trip this weekend out to several quilt shops. Let the sewing begin!!! And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the mountains! My husband and I hope to retire to Big Bear one day. We spend a lot of time up there. Your family is lovely!!

  5. Hi Diane!! It's so nice to see you in blogland! I will definitely be putting you on my blogroll for future visits. Thanks for those nice comments on my blog! I hope that you will be back to visit often.

Your Grandkids are all so cute! I love that project that you were doing with Jackie. It reminds me of my time with my Grandmother, she taught me how to cross stitch and I loved it. I had the patience for it. Now, I don't know where my patience has gone, I think I use it all up on my kids. My Mom used to make all of our Halloween costumes and such when we were kids. I'd love to learn how to sew, I've said before that I want to add it to my list of to dos. Hope to see you around and definitely come when my Mom does another Dancing party we really enjoyed your company!!
